FROM THE GOVERNOR'S BRIEFING IN NYC:

OVERVIEW

  • Progress is better than expected in NY.
  • 536 hospitalizations.
  • 136 COVID ICU patients.
  • 62 intubations.
  • 3 deaths reported in the last 24 hours. 

BARS & RESTAURANTS

  • The SLA and NYS Police Task Force observed 3,047 establishments over the weekend and issued violations to 106 establishments.
  • The Governor called for better enforcement across the State. 

SCHOOLS

  • The Governor will decide later this week on reopening schools based on the infection rate.
  • The State will be consulting parents and teachers.
  • The Governor is encouraging school districts to set up virtual “discussion rooms” to discuss their plans.  
  • Parents will ultimately decide whether their child will go to school.

FEDERAL

  • The national situation is getting worse.
  • Medical experts are saying we should hit the “reset button” and start over again.
