From Governor Cuomo’s briefing in NYC:

OVERVIEW

  • Day 282
  • Statewide rate with micro-clusters: 4.79%
  • 152,287 tests conducted yesterday 
  • 80 deaths
  • 4,602 hospitalizations (up 160)
  • 872 ICU patients (up 22)
  • 477 intubations (up 13)

HOSPITAL CAPACITY

  • Hospitals are increasing bed capacity by 25%
  • NY is requesting retired nurses and doctors to return to service, state will re-register them without cost to them, adding 20,000 staff to the workforce
  • Critical hospital capacity” is when 90% of capacity is reached 
  • Cuomo said NY Pause will be enacted if a 7 day average shows that critical hospital capacity will be reached within 3 weeks 


CDC/INDOOR DINING

  • CDC changed guidance on Friday on indoor dining, NY will be following the new guidance.
  • If the hospital rate does not stabilize after 5 days, indoor dining will be restricted.
  • Indoor dining in NYC will end, reduced from 25%. 
  • Outside NYC, indoor dining capacity will be reduced from 50% to 25% if the rate does not stabilize in that region.
