From Governor Cuomo’s press conference via conference call:

OVERVIEW

  • 67,00 tests were performed yesterday, 705 were positive, infection rate is 1.04%.
  • 9 deaths reported over the last 24 hours.
  • 714 hospitalizations, 10 less than yesterday. 

FEDERAL

  • President Trump said yesterday during his COVID briefing that masks should be worn. The Governor called this a "positive step forward.”
  • The President needs to issue a federal mandate for masks.
  • IHME model showed mask mandate could save 40,000 lives.
  • The Governor expressed concern over federal COVID bill stating that state and local governments are excluded.
