From Governor Cuomo’s press conference in NYC: 

OVERVIEW

  • 817 hospitalizations.
  • 9 deaths were recorded over the last 24 hours.
  • 54,328 tests were conducted yesterday with a .95% positive.
  • Reopening began on May 15; the numbers have declined since the start of reopening.

REOPENING

  • NYC enters Phase 3 today.
  • No indoor dining.
  • Westchester, Rockland, Hudson Valley will enter Phase 4 tomorrow.
  • Long Island will enter Phase 4 Wednesday.
  • Every school district must come up with a plan for what opening would look like.
  • There is no decision yet if schools will reopen in the Fall.
  • The state will make a decision based on data.
  • Casinos and movie theaters will remain closed for now.
  • The State Fair will not open this year.
  • There is less concern now about surface area transmission.
  • There is more airborne transmission.
  • The densest filters can filter out the virus (MERV Rating).
  • The state is working through the technology of air filtration.
  • 38 states have an increase in COVID cases.
